Biscuits and Gravy

We LOVE biscuits here at BE-Hive HQ. It’s a kind of gloomy Sunday so we wanted to show you an easy way to make a classic using our seitan & quinoa breakfast sausage: Biscuits & Gravy!! If you’re in the Nashville area, we suggest getting your biscuits from Guerilla Bizkits, they’re the best. Our breakfast sausage can be found at all South East Whole Foods, Turnip Truck, GTFOvegan, or direct from us on our website. ONTO THE GRAVY.

1 10oz package of BE-Hive Breakfast Sausage
Lil bit of oil
4 c of your favorite unsweetened milk beverage (we love Edens unsweetened organic soy milk)
4 T of plant butter of choice 
1/3 c All Purpose Flour
1/2 T garlic powder
1/2 T onion powder
1/2 T nutritional yeast
Salt and Pepper to taste (we like lots of pepper)

  • Put a little oil in a medium sauce pan on medium high heat. Crumble your package of breakfast sausage and brown in the pan.

  • Add your butter and let melt

  • Stir in your flour and mix well until the sausage is coated

  • Slowly whisky in your milk. If you want a much thicker gravy, use less than 4 cups

  • Once incorporated, keeeeeep stirring. It’s going to start thickening. If it’s feeling too wild in the pot, turn the heat down to medium.

  • Once thick, add the rest of your seasoning. Salt and Pepper to taste and serve over some biscuits. You can find all kinds of accidentally vegan biscuits at your local grocery store, or makes your own!
